I think you need to pay for two years in order to get the whole free year. It's actually a good deal, their cheapest cost is $165 for 4 years.

If you only pay for one month it's about $8. So it cost them $6 to register your domain and $2 for one month of hosting, but if you continue hosting on the second month, you'll be paying $8 a month.

It's shared hosting. If you leave the site, they will offer you a discount. It brings it down to $35 a year. Extremely good deal in my opinion. I paid $55/year for hosting elsewhere and got less than what these guys were offering.
