It's always nagged me. Is it worth ploughing millions into a sports team?

For example, Liverpool were recently bought by NESV- New England Sports Ventures. Clearly, they have to invest a lot of money into the team in order for them to achieve opulence. But after this; how do they regain the money they have in putted?

Would it just be through advertising, sponsorships and winning medals/trophies?
